M’sian Man Fails To Land A Job After Going Through Over 50 Interviews

"I keep getting told that no one could afford to pay me as I had a degree."
If you’ve ever tried applying (or still are in the process) for a job, you’d know how stressful and disappointing it is to be rejected multiple times.

A man from Ipoh is still on the search of a job that would pay him based on his qualifications even after he attended more than 50 job interviews, highlighting the plight faced by many graduates today.

Sadly, none of them came to fruition, leaving him in a limbo.

Every time I go for an interview, one of the responses I get is that they can’t afford to hire me because I have a degree.

“In fact, I apply every year through the Public Services Commission (SPA) and the Education Services Commission (SPP), but I still haven’t been called in,” he said.

The father of one added that his inability to land a job has placed a huge financial burden on him as he had student loans to repay.

“Honestly, I don’t mind being offered a low salary as long as the job has flexible hours and is stable, but I’ve yet to be fortunate enough to get such an offer,” he added.

Khairul, who holds a Business Management degree, said he has continued his interest in business by selling crispy fried sambal at Station 18.

“I’m still looking for space and opportunities in any kind of job while continuing to strengthen our small business to sustain my family’s livelihood.

“Even though I have a degree, I’m willing to do any job just to keep going.”
