Parents are responsible for their children’s whereabouts and wellbeing, as well as being expected to be respond promptly to any danger their children might get themselves into.
A man in Kuala Lipis, Pahang, became so oblivious to his surroundings after taking a phone call that he was totally unaware that his young son had fallen out from the car window and continued his journey without him.

In a statement by Lipis district police chief Superintendent Ismail Man, he said the unusual incident took place at 11am on Sunday (Apr 6) when the 36-year-man and his 3-year-old son had gone to a hardware store at Kampung Tempoyang in a Proton Saga, reported Buletin TV3.

After departing from the hardware store, the man had to pick up a phone call and stopped his car by the roadside to answer it.
When he was done, he continued to drive along Jalan Lipis-Merapoh, completely unaware that his son had fallen out from the rear window.
Boy sustains facial injuries
When he reached KM7 of Jalan Lipis-Merapoh, the man finally noticed his son’s absence and went to the Kuala Lipis police station to lodge a report.
As for the boy, a passerby spotted him standing alone by the roadside with cuts to his face and brought him to the Padang Tengku police station, where he was reunited with his father, reported NST.

Ismail said investigations found the boy had fallen out from the car’s left rear window, which was left unclosed while his father stopped to answer the phone call.
The case is now being probed under Section 337 of the Penal Code for causing hurt by an act which endangers the life or personal safety of others.
