A viral clip recently sparked outrage online after it showed a bus driver endangering passengers’ lives with his behavior.
It didn’t take long for the Road Transport Department (JPJ) to take notice of the clip, which has since triggered a probe.
What clip showed
In the said clip which was reportedly recorded by a passenger, it showed the bus driver operating the vehicle while a woman is seen sitting on his lap.

As for the woman, she was spotted sitting on the driver’s seat while having both of her hands on the steering wheel as the bus travelled along the highway.
Another clip, which was taken by a dashcam from a vehicle not far away from the bus, it showed the bus zig-zagging its way through traffic, posing a huge risk to other motorists.

Although it was never mentioned where the bus was heading to, netizens claimed that it was travelling from Terminal Bersepadu Selatan (TBS) in Kuala Lumpur to Kulai, Johor.
JPJ launches probe
NST reported that not long after the clip went viral, JPJ acted swiftly in identifying the bus driver and company.
RTD senior enforcement director Datuk Muhammad Kifli Ma Hassan said the driver was called to give his statement this morning, adding that the case will be referred to the department’s director-general for further action once investigations are complete.

Kifli called upon the public to contact the nearest RTD office if they have further information on the incident.
He also reminded all motorists, especially commercial vehicle operators, to follow traffic laws at all times so that they don’t endanger the safety of road users and prevent fatal accidents.
