Have you ever been halfway through your favourite drink, only to find an unexpected “extra topping” floating inside?
Well, that’s exactly what happened to a Malaysian man, and his reaction has taken the internet by storm.
A viral video posted by TikTok user @imranrahman_ shows him discovering a dead grasshopper inside his green tea—after already drinking most of it.
The clip quickly gained traction, amassing over 185,000 views, with netizens expressing shock, laughter, and horror at the unusual incident.
“We were too hungry to notice”
Speaking exclusively to WeirdKaya, the OP shared the full story behind the viral moment.
During his university days, he and his friends attended a food festival held at Mawar College.
As green tea lovers, they decided to share a cup from a vendor offering various drinks like strawberry yoghurt and coffee. Excited, they grabbed their drinks and food, then sat down to enjoy their meal.
We were already halfway through our green tea when I suddenly noticed something floating inside. I told my friend, and all of us were shocked and speechless! We had already drunk so much of it!” he recalled.
Despite the initial shock, the group was relieved that it wasn’t something worse. “Luckily, it was just a grasshopper and not a cockroach or lizard,” he joked.
The vendor apologised
After the discovery, one of his friends suggested returning to the vendor to ask for a replacement. To their relief, the seller apologised and provided them with a fresh drink.
I posted the video because I missed that moment, it was such a funny and unforgettable experience with my friends! Plus, the background sound fit the situation perfectly,” he added.
Jokingly captioning the video, he wrote: “Green tea lovers, there’s a new topping! (Share & tag your friends who love green tea!).”
