A 49-year-old local man was killed after he crashed his motorcycle into a tree that had fallen onto the middle of the road in Melaka early this morning.
According to China Press and MalaysiaGazette, the incident occurred when the victim was making his way towards Machap in Jasin while travelling along Jalan Selandar.
Couldn’t avoid fallen tree in time
Melaka Zone 2 Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Chief, Fire Superintendent Tc Zulkhairani Ramli said the Jasin Bestari Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) received an emergency call about the incident at 6.57am.
A fire engine and eight firefighters were immediately deployed to the scene and arrived at 7.17am.

“When the Operations Response Team (PKO) led by Operations Commander Senior Fire Officer I Abdul Razak Taat, arrived, they found a fallen tree blocking the road.
“A 49-year-old local man riding a motorcycle was believed to have been unable to avoid the tree before crashing into it,” he said.
He was subsequently pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel.

Firefighters then proceeded to cut and clear away the fallen tree so that traffic could resume smoothly.
The situation was eventually brought under control at 7.49am.
