2 Dead After M’sian Man Crashes Car While Trying To Avoid Monkey

The driver's wife and mother were flung out from the car.
Driving on the road has its own set of dangers and perils, such as debris and wild animals suddenly running across just to get to the other side.

This time, a monkey that was reportedly trying to cross the road out of the blue led to two individuals losing their lives and another injured following a car crash.

According to a statement by acting Baling police chief Deputy Superintendent Charan Ai Wan, he said the family of five were returning from an outing Sungai Sedim in Kulim to their home in Bedong, Sungai Petani yesterday (Sept 1).

When the driver, 27-year-old Mohd Fadzil, reached the Malau-Kuala Ketil trunk road, a monkey suddenly dashed across the road, causing him to veer the car to the left.

In the process, he lost control of the car and it crossed into the opposite lane before crashing into nearby bushes.

Lost mother and wife to crash

Tragically, Mohd Fadzil’s wife Siti Norhaslisa Kamarudin, and his 69-year-old mother Omi Kalsom Man, were killed on the spot after they were flung out of the car due to the crash’s impact, reported Sin Chew Daily.

Fortunately, Mohd Fadzil and his son Lufh Mikhael escaped unhurt, while his two-year-old daughter Lufiya Mikayla survived with injuries.

All of them were sent to the Sultan Abdul Halim Hospital in Sungai Petani for treatment.

Photos of Siti Norhaslisa and Omi Kalsom’s bodies were widely shared on social media, where it was covered with cloths and umbrellas.

Charan said the bodies were sent to the Kulim Hospital for post-mortem examination and the case is now being probed under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death due to reckless or dangerous driving.

Our condolences to the victim for his massive loss and we hope he and his children will be able to find peace in the tragedy.
