While climbing walls and platforms is usually a form of harmless fun for most people, scaling a high-voltage transmission tower is definitely not on anyone’s bucket list.
A local man left onlookers shocked and worried after he was seen sitting on top of a transmission tower in Jitra, Kedah after climbing all the way to one of its crossarms.

In a video shared on Facebook yesterday (May 20), it showed a small crowd, several fire engines and police cars gathering around a transmission tower at Kampung Muhibbah in Bandar Darulaman.

Apparently, a man had scaled the transmission tower and was seen sitting precariously on one of the crossarms.
As the man continued to chill on top of the tower, the only things onlookers could do was to watch in horror and hope that nothing terrible happens to him.
Came down after 2 hours
In a statement by Jitra Fire and Rescue Station Chief, Senior Fire Superintendent Mohd Bustan Karudin said an emergency call was made at around 7:17pm and firefighters immediately rushed to the scene.
Upon arrival, a man was found at the top of a Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) tower with the intention to leap off from it.

“An Aerial Ladder Platform (ALP) was sent to the scene for rescue purposes and TNB was called to cut off the electricity supply to the tower,” he said as quoted by Sinar Harian.
Mohd Bustan added that rescue efforts became complicated due to to the high voltage which carried the risk of suffering an electric shock. Nevertheless, they were still able to persuade the man to be rescued after two long hours of persuading.

He said that the man, who was in his 30s, was subsequently handed over to police for further action.
