A 28-year-old construction worker was jailed for 10 months after he pleaded guilty to owning a pair of brass knuckles, reported NST.
The accused, Mohamad Fitry Amirul Ezzy Abdullah, made the plea after the charge was read before Judge Osman Affendi Mohd Shalleh at the Batu Pahat Sessions Court today.
Claimed brass knuckles were for self-defence
According to the facts of the case, the offence was committed at a house in Jalan Sungai Nibong, Semerah, at 12.30am on Mar 15, where it was raided by police.
During the raid, police found the brass knuckles in the front pocket of Mohamad Fitry’s trousers.

He was then arrested and taken to the Batu Pahat police headquarters.
Mohamad Fitry later told police that the brass knuckles, which were given to him by his grandfather, were necessary for self-defence and he had carried it with him while visiting a friend.
Jailed for 10 months
He was charged under Section 6(1) of the Corrosive and Explosive Substances and Offensive Weapons Act 1958, which carries a jail term of up to 10 years and whipping upon conviction.

Following Mohamad Fitry’s guilty plea, the court ordered him to serve 10 months in jail starting from the date of his arrest on Mar 15.
