A man in Johor took matters into his own hands after his car got towed away and he had no means to pay the compound.
As a result of his rash behaviour, he now faces a lengthy stay in prison for setting a tow truck on fire.
Seen burning tow truck on CCTV
In a clip circulating on social media, it showed the man walking towards a tow truck belonging to the Johor Bahru City Council (MBJB) and pouring gasoline all over it.

He then takes out a lighter and lights the fire, which immediately covers the tow truck in flames as he walked away nonchalantly.

Towards the end of the clip, several people are seen putting out the fire with fire extinguishers, with the man responsible for it lingering nearby.

Was angry over towed vehicle
In a police statement by Johor Bahru Selatan District Police, Assistant Commissioner Raub Selamat, he said the incident took place at about 11.07am last Friday (Aug 15) at a vehicle storage depot at the Johor Bahru Waterfront.
He revealed the tow truck was set on fire by the man, who was angry over his Axia being towed away a day before and he didn’t have the money to pay the compound.
Although the suspect was told to appeal, he felt the process was too difficult and decided to act outside of the law.

“An estimated loss of around RM10,000 was caused and the 31-year-old suspect was arrested on the same day at 1.06pm. Police also seized an aluminium can and a lighter,” he said.
Police checks revealed the suspect had a prior criminal record under the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 but tested negative for drugs.
He was remanded for five days starting last Saturday (Aug 16) for investigations under Section 435 of the Penal Code for causing mischief by fire, which carries a maximum 14-year jail sentence upon conviction.
