M’sian Man Burns Mat Rempit Son’s Bike To Stop Him From Losing His Life On The Road

Desperate times call for desperate measures.
Illegal racers, popularly known as mat rempits in Malaysia, are infamous not only for their dangerous stunts on the road but also for contributing to the road fatality rate in their search for seconds of thrills.

A father who was extremely fed up of his son’s stubbornness and unwillingness to give up his mat rempit lifestyle resorted to a drastic measure to protect his son from an early death.

As the bike burnt away, the man named Kajol said that he was deeply exasperated and upset by his son’s refusal to heed his warnings about the dangers of being a mat rempit.

I burned [his motorcycle]. It’s easier not to have a motorcycle. If he has one, he turns into a ghost…a devil!” he exclaimed before spitting on the motorbike in disgust.

Kajol then pointed at the burning motorbike and said that it turned many teenagers into rebellious individuals and caused them to come home late at night.

“Before you (my son) lose your life at the hands of others or on the road, let me kill you (motorbike) first. It’s better that I burn you first,” he added.

Explained his actions in follow-up clip

In a separate clip uploaded yesterday (Sept 19), Kajol apologised for his seemingly rash actions and anger displayed in the viral clip.

However, he stood by his decision to burn his son’s motorbike, saying that it was the only way to teach the latter a lesson.

“For me, it’s best that I sacrifice the motorbike he used to go to school. But school isn’t the only thing he’s using the bike for.

“I’m afraid of only two things in life: getting a call from the police saying my son has been arrested for mat rempit activities and a call telling me that my son has died. This scares me the most. And that’s why [I gave my son that lesson].

“Nevertheless, I still love my son and those who are involved in mat rempit activities. I also hope that this illegal racing culture will end in the future,” he said.
