A man was fined by the Batu Pahat Magistrate’s Court today after he admitted to pulling a parang (machete) on his older sister in a fit of rage.
According to Harian Metro, the accused, Zainul Ariffin Mohd Jaid, was accused of committing criminal intimidation at a house in Sri Merlong, Rengit, at about 1.40pm on Sunday (Mar 1).
Threatened sister with parang
According to facts of the case, Zainul’s sister saw that the house was in a mess and noticed that he was angry at the time.

When she reprimanded him for causing the mess and damaging several items in the home, Zainul became even more upset as his sister had failed to wake him up from his nap so that he could send their mother to the hospital for diabetes treatment.
However, Zainul’s sister defended herself and said that she tried waking him up several times but to no avail.
Upon hearing this, Zainul brandished a parang and threatened her by saying: “Don’t make me lose control; if I lose control, I’m capable of doing anything.”

Fined RM2,500
Zainul was charged under Section 506 of the Penal Code, which provides for imprisonment of up to seven years, a fine, or both upon conviction.
After taking into account Zainul’s guilty plea, mitigation, and the prosecution’s submissions, magistrate Arun Noval Dass ordered him to pay RM2,500 in fines.
The case was prosecuted by Deputy Public Prosecutor Firdaus Ruslan, while Zainul was unrepresented.
