A 47-second video showing a man confronting a king cobra with a machete has gone viral on social media, leaving many viewers shocked.
However, netizens said the most frightening part of the video was not the snake itself, but the constant screaming heard in the background.
King cobra faces man head-on
The clip was shared on Facebook by Persatuan Haiwan Malaysia on Wednesday (Jan 28).
The video starts with a man holding a machete and cautiously moving around what appears to be a house compound in Kedah.
Moments later, a large king cobra, estimated to be about two metres tall, emerges and faces the man directly.
The man then swings the machete and manages to strike the snake, causing it to retreat into the house.
He later grabs the snake by its tail and drags it out of the building.
Animal group warns public not to act on their own
In its post, Persatuan Haiwan Malaysia reminded the public that those without proper training or experience should not attempt to handle venomous snakes on their own.
Instead, they advised calling professional rescue teams such as the Fire and Rescue Department or the Civil Defence Force.
The organisation warned that a single wrong move could easily lead to serious injury or death.
“Being brave is good, but being wise is better,” they wrote.
Netizens distracted by screaming
While the confrontation itself was intense, many netizens focused on the two women screaming throughout the video.
Some joked that the screaming added unnecessary panic and did little to help the situation.
As of now, the video has been shared over 1,500 times and has received more than 2,100 comments.
The incident has sparked renewed discussion online about wildlife encounters and the importance of leaving dangerous situations to trained professionals.
