No one likes to be charged more than what they believe is a reasonable price when it comes to their meals, but it’s no excuse to lay a finger on anyone too.
A man was caught on CCTV publicly berating a foreign worker over a plate of economy rice he personally felt was too expensive before coming back and allegedly assaulting him.
M’sian man allegedly slaps worker over RM13 economy rice
According to a report by China Press, the incident which took place on May 28 according to the clip’s timestamp, showed the man clad in a black t-shirt angrily confronting the worker at the counter.

After a furious back-and-forth, the worker decided to defuse the situation by issuing the man a refund on his meal.
Unfortunately, that failed to assuage the man’s anger as he reportedly returned to the restaurant 15 minutes later and allegedly slapped the worker.
A video also showed the man accosting the worker outside of the restaurant while a bystander does his best to avert a potential fight between them.

China Press reported that the altercation occurred when the man became extremely dissatisfied after his economy rice cost him RM13 in total.
According to the restaurant owner, the man had ordered diced chicken (RM3.30), chicken nuggets (RM3.00), steamed egg with meat (RM3.30), and two servings of rice (RM3.40).

Needless to say, netizens were outraged by the man’s violent act towards the workers and slammed him in the comment section.
‘If you can’t afford it, go back and cook at home (for only RM2 or RM3). You can eat as much as you need and not waste the food. There’s no need to hit anyone.’

‘No one told you to eat it if you couldn’t afford to. Ask for the price first lah! The audacity to assault someone over it.’
