M’sian Man Allegedly Attacks Wife With Parang During Argument Over TV Volume

The suspect was allegedly intoxicated at the time.
A man in his 70s was arrested after allegedly attacking his wife with a parang following an argument over the television volume at their home in Taman Desa Sejahtera, Kota Tinggi.

According to The Star, Kota Tinggi district police chief Supt Yusof Othman said police were alerted by members of the public at about 9.30pm on Saturday, Sept 5, after a woman was found injured and bleeding at the house.

Following the report, police dispatched a team to the scene and arrested the local man, who is the victim’s husband,” he said in a statement on Sunday, Sept 6.

Argument allegedly started over TV volume

According to a statement published on Facebook, initial investigations found that the couple, both in their 70s, had gotten into a misunderstanding after the wife increased the television volume.

Police said the husband, who was allegedly intoxicated at the time, then attacked his wife with a parang.

The woman suffered a slash wound measuring about 1cm on her right arm.

She was taken to Kota Tinggi Hospital for treatment and is currently reported to be in stable condition.

Parang seized by police

Police also seized the parang believed to have been used in the attack.

The case is being investigated under Section 324 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt using a dangerous weapon or means.
