A pensioner in Ipoh claimed trial to charges of rape and sexual assault against his 12-year-old daughter, who is now with child.
The 45-year-old made the plea after the charges were read out to him before Judge Jean Sharmila Jesudason at the Sessions Court today, reported The Vibes.

According to the charge sheet, the accused allegedly raped his daughter around 11.30pm in mid-December 2024, in the master bedroom of a residential park in Batu Gajah.
As for the two sexual assault charges, he was accused of committing the crime at 2.30pm in mid-December 2024, and between 2.30pm and 8.30pm in January of this year, at the same location.
The rape charge was framed under Section 376(3) of the Penal Code, while the sexual assault charges were under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017 (Act 792), which is punishable under the same section and act, read together with Section 16(a) of the same Act.
It was also reported that the victim is currently six months pregnant and still attending school.
Bail granted
The prosecution requested the court to set bail at RM30,000 and to impose several conditions on the accused, such as not disturbing or approaching the victim and witnesses, and reporting to the police station at the beginning of each month until the case concludes.
Defense lawyer Muhammad Farhan pleaded for a lower bail amount, saying the accused, who receives RM1,800 in monthly pension, is the family’s sole breadwinner as his wife is jobless and raises six school-aged children.
He added that the accused was committed to adhering to strict court conditions for bail, including living separately from the victim so that he could support his family.
The accused was eventually granted bail at RM21,000 with one local surety, along with the additional conditions requested by the prosection.
The case has been set for mention on August 18.
