An infant lost her life in a fatal accident which occurred on the Alor Gajah-Melaka Tengah-Jasin (AMJ) Highway near Batu Gajah on Tuesday (Apr 29), reported NST.
As for her parents, they sustained minor injuries and were sent to Sultanah Fatimah Specialist Hospital (HPSF) in Muar, Johor, for treatment.

According to MalaysiaGazette, the accident occurred at around 2.15pm when the victim, 2-month old Nur Hafirzah Qintina Shahrul Asraf Naim, was travelling in a Toyota Vios alongside her parents.
Jasin district police chief, Superintendent Mohamad Rusli Mat, told reporters that the trio were coming from the direction of the AMJ Merlimau traffic lights towards Batu Gajah prior to the crash.

“A lorry traveling in the same direction attempted to make a U-turn from the right lane toward the traffic lights on AMJ when it was struck on the right rear side by the car.
“The collision caused the victim to suffer severe head injuries and she was confirmed dead at 5pm while receiving treatment at the hospital,” he said.Preliminary findings
As for her parents, Shahrul Asraf Naim Khasiran and Nurulnadiah Balqis Abdullah, they both suffered wounds to their forehead. Miraculously, the lorry driver was unharmed.

Car allegedly lost control
Mohamad Rusli added preliminary findings suggested that the Toyota Vios lost control and veered into the lorry’s lane.
However, investigations are still ongoing under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for death caused by reckless and dangerous driving.
