Back in the day, coming late to class might’ve earned you a stern scolding, a smack with the rotan, or a long, embarrassing stand in the corner.
But in this TikTok era? The “punishment” has taken a much trendier turn.
In a viral clip shared by @MissJane, a university lecturer shared her unique way of dealing with students who come late to class: they have to perform a trending TikTok dance at the front of the lecture hall.
If you’re late to my class, you’ll have to do a TikTok trend performance in front,” she told her students on the first day.
And just like that, the rule was accepted with a simple “Ok Dr.”
The video shows students getting up and dancing while the rest of the class watches on, some laughing and others probably vowing never to be late.
Netizens were equally amused and terrified by the idea, with some joking they’d rather camp outside the classroom than dance in front of everyone.
While many found the approach light-hearted and hilarious, the comment section showed a clear divide between the extroverts and introverts.
“It’s okay, I’d rather come early if this is the punishment. I’m introverted …so scared.”

‘If it’s like this, I’d be late on purpose more often haha.’
