A Malaysian lawyer claimed Singapore is on an “execution spree” after the country carried out the death penalty on another Malaysian death row inmate, the second in less than two weeks today.

As reported by NST, N. Surendran, who represented the family of 38-year-old Pannir Selvam Pranthaman, said that Singapore was specifically “targeting” Malaysians on death row.
Pannir is the second Malaysian in less than two weeks to be executed. The Malaysian government must intervene with Singapore, as there are more Malaysians on death row,” he said.
His remarks came after Pannir was hanged in Singapore today (Oct 8) for trafficking 51.84g of heroin into the country in 2014.
Second execution in under two weeks
Pannir’s hanging came less than two weeks after the execution of 39-year-old Malaysian K. Datchinamurthy on Sept 25.

Both were convicted of drug trafficking offences in Singapore and sentenced to the mandatory death penalty.
Datchinamurthy was convicted of having in his possession, for the purpose of trafficking, not less than 44.96g of diamorphine (pure heroin).
Meanwhile, Pannir was found guilty of couriering 51.84g of heroin into the country in 2014.
