M’sian Kids Who Were Sent To Orphanage Grateful To Be Together, Hope To Ease Dad’s Burden When Older

"We want to study hard, go to university, and get good jobs.”
Just days after a heartbreaking story of a father who sent his three children to an orphanage due to poverty went viral, the same three siblings have now spoken up — and their message is simple: they still love their father, and they want to take care of him one day.

The children, aged 5, 7 and 9, are currently staying at Jaz Home, Teluk Intan, after their father — a lorry driver earning around RM2,600 a month — made the painful decision to give them up because he could no longer afford food, schooling and living expenses.

But instead of resentment, the eldest child told reporters that the only thing they want is to study hard, get good jobs, and “make Papa proud.”

They’re grateful to stay together

Despite their situation, the children said they feel thankful that they are still with one another, adding that they have made new friends and finally have a stable environment, proper meals and a chance to return to school.

A caretaker at the home also revealed that before this, the family tried staying at a children’s centre in KL — but the cost of living was so high that their father could barely eat.

The caretaker added that the father cried when he left them, saying it was the “only way to give them a better future.”
