Being stuck in a lift alone can be extremely traumatizing, especially if it lasts more than 10 minutes. Poor air ventilation and lack of oxygen can be life-threatening. Now, imagine a child going through that ordeal.
Recently a TikTok video posted by @its_meell21, went viral, where it showed a child getting trapped inside a lift at a mall located in Damansara on June 23.
M’sian kid gets stuck inside lift for over 30 mins
Apparently, when the family of four tried to enter the lift, the door suddenly closed right after the child went in. When the door closed on the father, it caught his leg, causing him to use his hand to stop the door from closing shut, leaving his daughter alone inside.
By then, the lift had already malfunctioned, rendering the buttons completely useless in opening or closing the lift door.
The child’s father tried his best to keep the door from closing while the mother offered her child a drink through the narrow gap.
Thanks to the small gap, the parents were able to communicate and comfort their daughter while feeding her snacks as she was crying. Moreover, the gap allowed the child to breathe and not suffocate inside the lift.
Bomba to the rescue
After 30 minutes which seemed like an eternity, the parents eventually had to call the fire department as the mall’s security team were at a loss over what to do.
Eventually, the fire department arrived and took charge of the situation. Through their expertise and the use of specialized tools, they were able to successfully open the lift door.
Thankfully, the girl was found safe inside, much to the immense relief of her worried parents.

The clip has since garnered close to 900,000 views at the time of writing and left netizens frightened by the incident.
“If it was my kid, definitely they would cry…I will cry along with them too.’
