An international school teacher has decided to resign after receiving only RM85 as a reward for surpassing her Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) — a move that has drawn strong reactions from netizens online.
‘Perfect work’ but no real reward
The teacher, who shared her experience on Threads, posted a photo of the official letter from her employer.
The letter described the RM85 payment as a “Token of Appreciation” for achieving above 90% in her KPIs for 2024.
She expressed disappointment and frustration in the caption.
“Decision: Resigned. Perfect work, always on time, KPI above 90%, but this is what I get? What can you even buy with RM85?”
Many Malaysians can relate
Her post quickly went viral, with many Malaysians sharing similar stories in the comments section.
One user joked, “Are you sure it’s not a typo?”

Another said, “I’ve experienced worse—RM50 only. So I just stopped working seriously, looked for another job and left.”

Some pointed out the value mismatch, with one person writing, “Been there… my advice: go to a place that values your 90% KPI achievement. Is this RM1 per 1% now?”

Another added, “My company is big, listed on Bursa Malaysia, yet even with top KPIs, my raise was just RM60 a year.”
