A Malaysian content creator has issued a public apology following heavy backlash over a controversial video that appeared to show a homeless man receiving only chicken bones for a meal.
The video, which has since been deleted, showed Instagram user @aluk_77 and two others handing a packet of rice containing what looked like leftover chicken bones to a homeless man.
Almost immediately, the footage sparked outrage online. Many netizens slammed the act as insensitive and humiliating, with some even calling for authorities to investigate the group.

In response to the criticism, @aluk_77 posted a clarification video on his Instagram account, where he has over 140,000 followers. He explained that the video was a planned skit, and the homeless man had agreed to participate in it.
“At the beginning, we followed the homeless man. It was a collaboration, and he agreed to act with us,” he said.
“We didn’t just give him chicken bones. We actually gave him a complete meal with two pieces of fried chicken.”
He went on to say that their original intention was to encourage charitable acts through a video series. This particular video was meant to be the first in the series.

Despite their intentions, @aluk_77 admitted that the execution of the video was poor and failed to convey the full context.
He acknowledged the public outrage and offered a sincere apology to those who were offended by the content.
“We didn’t expect it to blow up like this. That’s our fault, and we’re sorry. We just wanted to help, and everything was agreed on from the beginning,” he said.
Please give us another chance to give back to society. We promise to do more good and meaningful work moving forward.”
While the apology was meant to clarify the situation, many Malaysians remain uncomfortable with the idea of using the homeless for social media content, even if consent was given.
Critics argue that the stunt highlights a larger problem within influencer culture, where helping others is sometimes used as a means to gain views rather than to genuinely make a difference.
