Several local Facebook pages had shared rumours claiming Wang appeared in one of the videos linked to the case.
The claims quickly went viral, prompting Wang to post a video on his Facebook page to address the situation.
“That person is not me”
In his video, Wang firmly denied any connection to the incident, joking that while he and the suspect may look similar, they are not the same person.

“I want to make this clear: that person is not me,” he said.
Even though we look alike, wear the same style of glasses, have fair skin, are about the same height, and even equally handsome — we are not the same person!”

Wang continued by listing out key differences. “First, I’ve never been to China. Second, I’m not gay. Third, my taste isn’t that bad, OK?”
He then addressed the flood of messages he had received since the rumours started. “Please stop messaging me, stop asking ‘is this you?’ and stop laughing secretly in the comments. Enough already!”

Online reaction
The video has since been widely shared, with many netizens amused by Wang’s humorous yet direct approach.
Some praised him for addressing the issue swiftly, while others continued to joke about the uncanny resemblance.
