Sometimes, when people think they are heading toward temptation, life has other plans.
One man recently shared his unexpected experience in an anonymous post on the Facebook page XUAN, revealing how what he thought would be the start of an affair turned into an eight-hour life lesson in a public park.
Marriage at a breaking point
In his post, the man said his relationship with his wife was in bad shape at the time. They argued frequently and he felt emotionally exhausted. Over time, he admitted that he even started thinking about divorce.

It was during this difficult period that a new female colleague joined his company. He described her as cheerful, attractive, and a vegetarian. Slowly, he found himself developing feelings for her.
He eventually used the company phone to message her. Most of the time she left him on read. Still, he persisted and even bought small gifts for her. To his surprise, she finally replied and suggested meeting up for an afternoon.
At that moment, he believed she might be interested in him too.
A date that started with Waze and ended in a park
Following the address she sent, he drove to the meeting point using Waze. When he arrived, he realised it was a busy public park. Confused, he wondered if she had sent the wrong location.

Before he could ask, she looked at him and asked a question he did not expect.
Do you know what the Five Precepts, Ten Virtues, and Eightfold Path are?”
Instead of small talk, she began explaining principles about personal conduct, cause and effect, and how certain actions could harm oneself and one’s family.
He admitted he tried to justify himself by saying that some wealthy people have complicated relationships and still seem to live well.
She calmly responded that everyone has different circumstances and that consequences can accumulate over time.
She also told him that if a couple has problems, they should try to communicate rather than escape or replace their partner. She warned that lack of self control, especially with alcohol, could lead to decisions one might regret.
An eight-hour life lecture
By this point, he was growing impatient. He had expected a casual outing, not what felt like a moral studies class. He suggested changing locations, but she insisted the park was quiet and suitable.

She then continued speaking about behaviour, speech, and even thoughts. He could not remember every detail, only that he sat there listening for more than eight hours.
By the end of it, any romantic feelings he had were gone. Instead, he felt awkward and slightly defeated, like he had unknowingly signed up for an overnight seminar on life values.
He said he knew she was vegetarian but did not expect her to be so familiar with these teachings. She explained that she did not see herself as religious, but had family exposure to such ideas while growing up.
Before leaving, she returned all the gifts he had given her and told him she planned to resign from the company.
According to her, she could always find another job, but she did not want to become the cause of another family’s problems. She encouraged him to think carefully about his choices moving forward.
The lesson that stayed
The man shared that he did not instantly become a better person overnight. However, whenever he later had thoughts of crossing boundaries, her words from that day would resurface in his mind. Over time, those impulses gradually faded.
He said he and his wife still argue occasionally, but they have started trying to communicate and understand each other better. Their relationship has improved compared to before.
