Following the tragic fire and gas pipeline explosion in Putra Heights, the government is stepping in to fully fund the rebuilding of 81 homes that were completely destroyed in the incident.
Earlier, reports revealed that 81 homes were found to be completely destroyed, amounting to roughly RM65.4 million lost in property damage.
48 homes in Taman Putra Harmoni, 33 in Kampung Kuala Sungai Baru
According to Buletin TV3, Syarikat Perumahan Negara Berhad (SPNB) will be spearheading the reconstruction efforts through a dedicated Recovery and Rebuilding Action Plan announced by Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming earlier.
SPNB CEO Mohd Jamil Idris revealed that the affected areas include 48 homes in Taman Putra Harmoni and 33 homes in Kampung Kuala Sungai Baru.

However, residents hoping to catch a glimpse of their future homes will need to wait a little longer, as the final design hasn’t been confirmed just yet.
When SPNB’s full assessment is ready next week, we will first meet with homeowners and landowners to get their consent before any work begins,” he said.
Meetings held, contractors to visit the site
So far, three management meetings have already taken place between SPNB, the Ministry of Housing and Local Government (KPKT), and other relevant agencies. Officials have also conducted several site visits.
To speed up the process, contractors will be brought to the site on the following day to share their opinions and proposals on the rebuilding project.
