A Malaysian man took to social media to share how his beloved 17-year-old Proton Saga became the reason he was mocked and even personally attacked by a colleague.
According to him, the car was a gift from the previous owner, who passed it to him after using it for more than a decade.
Despite its age and high fuel consumption, he continued maintaining it with a few hundred ringgit every month because it had already been with him for six years.

The previous owner had also neglected servicing for five years, so he felt it was only right to treat the car well.
He explained that everyone sees their car differently. Some people treat it as a tool, while others treasure it like a prized possession or even a partner.
He admitted he is the type who expects more from a car but has to stay realistic due to his financial situation.
Gets mocked behind his back
One day, a colleague who often carpools with him suddenly refused to sit in his car.
The man said they usually went to work together and he often fetched the colleague home out of pity when no one picked him up.
But instead of being grateful, the colleague went behind his back and bad-mouthed the car, calling it “old and embarrassing”.
He only found out about it later when friends told him that the colleague had mocked the car model and brand, and even implied it was beneath him to be seen in such a vehicle.
The incident left the man stunned, especially since he had never imagined someone would attack him personally over a car that simply helps him get to work.
“Is the brand or model really that important?” he wrote, questioning whether the obsession with appearances has gone too far.
The comment section quickly filled with supportive messages, with many Malaysians pointing out that the issue had nothing to do with the age of the car but the colleague’s lack of gratitude.

Another said the best car in the world is the one that is fully paid off, and told the driver he had already done more than enough. If the colleague wanted to bad-mouth the car, that reflected more on his own character than anything else.
