A mother has recently stepped forward to accuse a dance teacher of physically mistreating her daughter which left her body covered with bruises.
Aside from the alleged abuse, the teacher also reportedly threatened students to not notify anyone about it. A police investigation has since been launched.
M’sian girl allegedly caned & made to do 200 squats
Speaking to China Press, the mother, who wanted to remain anonymous, said her daughter had been attending classes for awhile but would return home with bruises on her wrists, buttocks, and knees.
Every time I asked her where the bruises came from, she would only say she accidentally hurt herself.

“One day, my mother sent my daughter to class and they were five minutes late. The teacher then punished her with 200 squats.
“She felt dizzy afterwards and later confessed that she had been punished previously for missing dance steps, making mistakes, or failing to keep up with the rhythm,” she said.
The mother added her daughter had been resistant to attending classes for some time, but she initially assumed it was because the child found dancing too difficult and didn’t want to continue learning.

“I later discovered it was because the teacher had threatened my daughter to not to reveal what was going on.
“If the teacher felt she daughter lacked talent or was unsuitable for dancing, the teacher could have chosen not to accept her or used other methods. Using violence or caning my child is unacceptable.
“It is understood that some other parents have also withdrawn their children from the class due to harsh treatment and I believe my daughter wasn’t the only one who was punished,” she said.
Police report filed
The mother said she took her daughter for an X-ray examination and filed a police report in January.

Meanwhile, the Chinese daily quoted former Kuantan district police chief Assistant Commissioner Wan Zahari Wan Busu as saying that the teacher was arrested on June 25 to assist investigations.
The teacher was later released on police bail on the same day. However, the case is still being probed under the Child Act.
