A Malaysian girl was allegedly caned by her father after scoring below 5As in her Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination.
The incident was shared by an individual who claimed the girl was their relative and had recently received her SPM results.
Allegedly punished for scoring below 5As
As reported by mStar, the girl studies at a boarding school and had obtained fewer than five As in the national examination.
Her father was reportedly furious over the results and allegedly punished her by caning her.
The individual said the punishment deeply affected the teen, who then refused to leave her room and stopped eating.
Mother sends her away for safety
As the situation escalated, the girl’s mother allegedly sent her to stay at her grandfather’s house out of fear that she might be caned again.
The individual added that the teen is currently safe and that the mother has been supporting her.
The situation is under control for now. I feel so sorry for her. I cried when I heard about it,” the OP wrote.
OP says SPM results are not the end
In the same post, the OP shared that they too had once scored below 5As in SPM and were scolded by their parents, though not physically punished.
However, the OP said the experience motivated them to do better in the future.
They later pursued Sijil Tinggi Pelajaran Malaysia (STPM) and eventually achieved strong results.
