We all get confused every once in a while when it comes to places that share similar names or spelling.
However, this confusion became an expensive lesson for a local traveller after realising they had flown to the wrong destination.
‘Wait, I’m actually in Kelantan?!’
In the hilarious Facebook post, the OP started off by apologising to their Geography teacher before delving into what actually happened.
The OP wrote that the flight ticket was booked two months in advance and they did not notice anything amiss until they landed.

The first red flag began to show when the OP alighted the flight and couldn’t find any immigration counters, which is standard protocol when one flies to Sabah or Sarawak.
When the OP asked an airport staff for help in locating the counter, the staff was equally as confused, causing the OP to open Google Maps to determine where they actually were.
And that was when reality finally hit the OP like a sledgehammer.
Walao eh! I was in Kelantan, not Sabah! Kota Bharu and Kota Kinabalu are totally different places!”

The OP explained that the mix-up was due to them not paying close attention during the booking process as they selected “Kota Bharu” when it popped up as the first option.
Spent money for new flight
Although shellshocked by the massive blunder, the OP didn’t want to let the holiday go to waste and was forced to book another flight to Kota Kinabalu on the spot.

To further add insult to injury, the OP later discovered that their non-refundable and non-cancellable return flight to KL was departing from Kota Bahru as well, meaning they had to watch the money go down the drain.
The OP also reminded others to be more careful when booking flight tickets and asked whether anyone had made the same mistake before.
In a similar fashion, a woman booked the wrong concert due to the artistes’ names sharing similar spellings:
