For many animal lovers, seeing a cat stuck in a tree can instantly trigger panic.
Is it hurt? Can it get down on its own? Should someone call for help?
While these reactions often come from a place of care, sometimes the “emergency” turns out to be… not quite what it seems.
That was exactly the case recently when a group of firefighters received a call about a feline supposedly in distress.
Without hesitation, they sprang into action, ready for a classic animal rescue mission.
The incident, which has since gone viral on TikTok via user @fien_aron, showed the firefighters rushing to a location near a beach where the cat was said to be stuck.
Their goal? Save a stranded kitty that couldn’t find its way down.
But upon arriving, the situation took an unexpected (and slightly comical) turn.
Instead of a cat in trouble, they found one lounging peacefully on a tree, not particularly high off the ground either.
Far from being scared or stuck, the cat looked like it was having the time of its life, basking in the sea breeze and completely ignoring the presence of its would-be rescuers.
This ironic twist wasn’t lost on the firefighters either.
In the video, they cheekily captioned it: “We’re going through post-Raya blues, and now we’re getting false calls too. That cat’s just chilling and healing, and y’all went and called 999.”
Naturally, the video caught the attention of netizens, many of whom were thoroughly entertained by the unexpected outcome.
The cat’s nonchalant attitude and the firefighters’ humorous reaction made for a wholesome and relatable moment online.
To add to the feel-good vibes, some users pointed out that the firefighters still got something out of the mission, they got to enjoy a bit of fresh air and a scenic beach view, even if no rescue was actually needed.
As for the person who made the call, many believed it was probably a genuine mistake.
After all, when it comes to animals, especially cats stuck in trees, it’s better to be safe than sorry.
