While most of us struggled to organise dinner with just five cousins, one Malaysian family in Penaga, Penang, managed to gather five generations with 250 people for a massive Hari Raya group photo.
The awe-inspiring moment was captured during the second day of Hari Raya, where descendants of the Haji Dalil and Hajah Rokiah families gathered to celebrate the festive season in style.

Once-in-a-lifetime shot
This iconic gathering wasn’t just about ketupat and kuih raya. It was about preserving memories, and what better way to do that than with a “full house” family photo?
Nazri Ahmad, one of the family members involved, told Penang Kini that although around 100 members couldn’t make it, togetherness was still strong.
On this special day, we made history with five generations under one roof. Even though some couldn’t attend, we felt the strong family spirit,” he said.
30 years of family history in photos
Turns out, this isn’t the first time the family pulled off a legendary group shot.
Some members shared throwback “family portraits” from 1995 and 2007, where 90 and 150 members were photographed, respectively.

Fast forward 18 years, and the family has nearly doubled in size — a testament to how love and family kept the bond growing stronger.
Nazri added that while the family holds reunions every year, large-scale photos like this don’t happen often.
He hopes they can do it again in two years to keep the connection alive between different generations.
Watch how they made it happen here.
