Losing a bag while travelling is stressful enough. But for one family visiting Italy, all 11 pieces of their luggage were allegedly stolen, leaving them with only the clothes they were wearing.
The incident was shared by a friend on Threads, who asked others to pray for the family’s safe return and urged travellers in Italy to be extra careful.
All 11 bags allegedly taken

According to the post, the friend and their family had lost every piece of luggage they brought along.
“This wasn’t just pickpocketing. They were left with only what they were wearing. All 11 pieces of luggage were taken,” the user wrote.
The post included a photo showing the back of a vehicle packed with suitcases of different sizes.
The user also said the family had managed to track an iPad that was among their belongings. However, the screenshots did not indicate whether any of the stolen items had been recovered.
Car reportedly showed no signs of a break-in
In a reply to a commenter discussing car break-ins, the original poster shared another detail: their friend’s vehicle apparently looked undamaged.
“We always hear about cars being broken into, but my friend’s car still looked fine. There weren’t any signs of a break-in,” they wrote.
The post did not explain how the belongings were taken or specify where in Italy the incident happened.
The user also expressed frustration with the local police response, although the screenshots did not provide details of what action authorities had taken.
Others share similar experiences
The post prompted several commenters to share their own experiences and reminders about keeping belongings secure while travelling.

One commenter claimed that they had experienced a similar theft in Rome while travelling in two cars.
According to their account, they had parked near a police station, but their car was still broken into and all their luggage was stolen.
They advised travellers to keep passports and cash with them instead of storing these items in their luggage.
Another commenter, who described themselves as a frequent traveller who rents cars, urged others not to leave bags unattended inside parked vehicles, even when the doors are locked.
They also suggested travelling directly from accommodation to the airport without unnecessary stops when carrying luggage.
Meanwhile, others offered words of support and wished the affected family a safe journey home.
For the original poster, the immediate concern was their friend’s wellbeing: “Please pray that my friend and their family return safely.”
