Going on holiday is always an exciting time—until something unexpected happens to ruin the trip.

Stopped by immigration over tax issues?
A Malaysian woman, Irynn Ching, recently shared her frustration on Facebook after she and her husband missed their flight to Jakarta due to an issue with the Immigration Department and LHDN.

According to her, they had arrived at KLIA early on Feb 4 and completed check-in without any issues.
However, just as they were about to board, her husband was suddenly stopped by immigration officers, who informed him that LHDN had flagged him for unpaid taxes.
Her husband, confused by the situation, recalled having no issues with LHDN. He was given a number to call an officer, but after multiple unanswered calls, he finally managed to speak to someone.
Hubby mentioned flight at 8am. Keep on asking to hold on,” she wrote.
Released minutes before flight but still missed it
After an investigation, LHDN confirmed that there was no outstanding debt, and he was finally released at 8.45am—just minutes before their flight.
Despite running as fast as they could, they missed boarding by only two to three minutes.
The next available flight was far more expensive, with tickets priced at triple their original round-trip fare. Ultimately, they decided to cancel their trip entirely.
Frustrated by what had happened, they made a police report at KLIA, questioning why he was stopped in the first place.
Follow-up with LHDN
Ching later shared an update stating that her husband had personally visited LHDN, where officers acknowledged the issue and promised to assist in the investigation.
She expressed disappointment over the incident but also accepted that mistakes happen.
As humans, we are not free from error, and sometimes, unfortunate situations happen. While this incident caused us to miss our flight, we have taken the necessary steps and are ready to move forward,” she wrote.
