A Malaysian family recently turned heads in Hatyai, Thailand, after dressing up in Thai student uniforms during their vacation — all to fulfil a heartfelt wish from their grandmother.
Speaking exclusively to WeirdKaya, Ms Lee said the idea came from her, as she suggested it as a way to create meaningful memories during a rare full-family vacation.
With both grandparents growing older, the family saw this trip as the perfect chance to do something special together.
Unforgettable moments
Initially, the grandmother resisted the idea, joking that the uniforms made her feel like she was “aging in reverse” and that the skirt was “very short”.
But once she found out that everyone — including her own sister — would be dressing up too, she agreed to join in.
The family wore the uniforms throughout the entire day, drawing smiles and admiration from locals and tourists alike.
Many asked to take photos
Some restaurants even asked to take pictures of the entire group, while passersby commented on how adorable the grandmother looked in her student outfit.
Ms Lee said the day was filled with laughter and unforgettable moments, not just for them but for everyone who crossed paths with them.
The grandmother herself was overwhelmed with joy.
It was definitely a very memorable trip that will leave a wonderful mark in my heart,” she shared with a smile.
This was the family’s first time doing something like this, and judging by the reactions they received, it may just become a tradition for future trips.
