What is Chinese New Year without firecrackers lighting up the sky, right?
Recently, a Malaysian family won the hearts of netizens for their thoughtful gesture of cleaning up the firecracker debris after celebrating the festive occasion.

A simple act that made a big impact
The heartwarming scene was shared on TikTok by user @ninanino.__, Nina, who captured her neighbours diligently sweeping up the colourful remnants of their firecrackers.
The video showed the road initially covered in scattered debris, but with the family’s efforts, it was soon spotless again.

Speaking exclusively to WeirdKaya, the TikTok user revealed that this happened in Bandar Mahkota Cheras on Chinese New Year’s Eve.
She had gone live on TikTok while her neighbours were cleaning, attracting around 3,200 viewers who were impressed by their responsible act.
When I told them they were being watched live, they were surprised but happy. They said that as neighbours, it’s important to keep the area clean, no matter what,” she shared.
Nina also praised her neighbours, saying they didn’t just clean their own area but even swept in front of her house.
I’m lucky to have such considerate neighbours. The entire neighbourhood is Chinese, but they think about others too.”
Netizens applaud their considerate gesture
Many were touched by the family’s sense of responsibility, especially since firecracker debris often ends up in other people’s compounds.
“Very good, respect this act! Meanwhile, in my area, the wind just blows everything into our houses.”

“You’re lucky to have neighbours like this! Truly admirable.”

“Now this is what I call respect. Wish I had neighbours like them!”

A simple act of cleaning up may seem small, but it speaks volumes about community spirit and respect for one another.
