Former Sri Pahang FC footballer Mohammad Gopi Rizqi, 36, has been spotted selling drinks at a Ramadan bazaar in Kampung Api-Api, Pahang, after reportedly going unpaid for eight months.
According to Berita Harian & Sinar Harian, Gopi, originally from Kuantan, played for several Malaysian clubs, including Pahang (2010-2015, 2020), Selangor (2016), Johor Darul Ta’zim (2017-2018), Melaka United (2018), and PDRM (2019).

During his time with Pahang, he won the Malaysia Cup twice and an FA Cup title.
Viral photo draws attention
His small drink stall unexpectedly gained attention after photos of him selling corn and longan-flavoured drinks, as well as traditional kuih, went viral on social media.

Sales have been good, and many people even came to take pictures with me,” he shared.
Gopi, who converted to Islam five years ago, started the business with his wife, Nor Hidayah Roslan, 38, to support their family after 8 months of unpaid wages.
Looking towards the future
As a father of two young children, Gopi is determined to provide for his family. He holds a ‘D’ level coaching license and is keen to share his experience with aspiring footballers if given the chance.
While I would love to coach, for now, my main focus is growing this business to sustain my family,” he said.
Despite the setbacks, Gopi remains optimistic and committed to moving forward.
