A Malaysian engineer has shocked netizens after it was revealed that he’s been sacrificing his own basic needs just to fund his girlfriend’s luxury lifestyle — to the point of saying he “can’t live without her.”
The story was shared by his sibling to Xuan’s Facebook page, who claimed the couple met through an online game.
The girlfriend is described as someone who constantly demands the best in everything — from food and clothes to gifts — with the engineer footing the bill.
Despite not coming from a wealthy background, the engineer spends most of his monthly salary on her, while surviving on cheap meals like instant noodles, bread, and biscuits.
‘If you love me, don’t talk about money’
The girlfriend, who works in sales, often uses emotional tactics to avoid discussing money, reportedly saying things like: “If you love me, don’t talk about money.”
Although her appearance is described as average, she frequently brags that she has many admirers, including a wealthy boss’s son.
Still, she claims she chose the engineer “for love.”
These words seem to have made the engineer even more determined to prove himself, leading him to give more than he can afford.
Parents use retirement savings to help son
Seeing their son struggle, the parents decided to use their retirement savings to support him.
Even though they knew the money would likely be spent on the girlfriend, they gave it anyway just to ease their son’s burden.
In a shocking twist, the engineer would often ask his parents to pay him back for gifts he bought for them, even small things like a newspaper.
His father, now nearly 70, continues working just to support his son financially.
Cares for GF’s family than his own
To make matters worse, the engineer has been showering the girlfriend’s family with gifts and expensive items, especially after they claimed to be struggling financially.
Meanwhile, his own parents rarely get the same attention.
When asked why he doesn’t visit them during weekends or holidays, he says he has “no time off,” but always manages to drive his girlfriend back to her hometown.
Eventually, the elderly parents had no choice but to take a bus to Kuala Lumpur just to see their son.
‘I can live without my parents, but not her’
When the family tried to talk some sense into him, the conversation turned into a heated argument. It was then that he said something that broke his sibling’s heart:
I can live without my parents, but not without my girlfriend.”
The sibling ended the post by expressing deep sadness over their broken relationship, hoping one day the brother will realise who truly loves him unconditionally, not the one asking for gifts, but the two elderly parents still working and riding buses just to see him.
