A terrifying car accident in Bandar Utama nearly turned fatal, but a group of quick-thinking youths managed to save an elderly woman just in time.
The incident took place at around 3.35pm yesterday (Mar 30) along Persiaran Bandar Utama, near the BU2 park area in Bandar Utama.
According to reports, the car driven by an elderly woman was believed to have gone out of control before turning turtle.
Shortly after the impact, the car caught fire, with flames spreading rapidly due to the severity of the crash.
The Selangor Fire and Rescue Department received a distress call and promptly dispatched a team from the Damansara fire station.
A total of eight firefighters, along with a fire engine and an Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) unit, were sent to the scene.
Upon arrival, firefighters found the car already engulfed in flames, with the fire consuming nearly 100% of the vehicle.
Bystanders rescue woman before flames intensify
Fortunately, members of the public had already stepped in to help before firefighters arrived.
Three young men were seen in a video working together to rescue the woman, who was trapped inside the car.
Despite the challenging conditions, the trio managed to pull her out before the fire worsened.
Injured but alive
The woman sustained multiple injuries in the incident but survived the ordeal.
She was later transported to a nearby hospital by a Ministry of Health ambulance for further treatment.
The heroic actions of the three young men have since drawn praise online, with many netizens commending their bravery and quick response in saving a life.
