M’sian E-Hailing Driver & SG Passenger Killed After Car Collides Into Lorry In JB

The driver died at the scene while the S'porean passed away at a hospital.
A horrific car crash took the lives of a Malaysian e-hailing driver and his Singaporean passenger after the car crashed right into a lorry in Johor Bahru yesterday morning (July 20).

A video showing the aftermath of the crash later found its way to social media, where it displayed the massive trail of destruction the accident left behind.

Car completely crushed, lorry relatively unscathed

In the clip, it showed a white car that was mangled beyond recognition, where its bonnet was totally pulverised and its doors on the right ripped off due to the crash’s impact.

Inside the car’s interior, a pool of blood can be seen leaking its way out from the wreckage and spilling onto the road, adding on to the accident’s grisliness.

Not far from the car was a lorry, which appeared to have emerged from the crash with minimal damage.

In a statement issued by Johor Bahru (North) district police chief Balveer Singh, he said the crash took place at around 11.27am, where a Perodua Bezza, was travelling to Skudai from JB.

He said the driver, a 48-year-old local man, reportedly lost control of the car and slammed into the rear left side of the lorry. He was later pronounced dead at the scene due to severe head injuries.

As for the passenger, a 27-year-old Singaporean, he was rushed to the Sultanah Aminah Hospital in JB for treatment but eventually succumbed to his injuries.

The lorry driver, a 28-year-old Malaysian, was unhurt in the accident and the case is currently being probed under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving.
