A routine late-night e-hailing job turned into an unexpected ordeal for a driver in Kuala Lumpur after his passenger fell into such a deep sleep that she could not be woken up even after reaching her destination.
Sharing his experience on Xiaohongshu, the driver with the username 在KL打拼的沙巴仔, said the incident happened at around 11.30pm, when he picked up a female passenger near Bangsar, with the destination set to Cheras.
Couldn’t wake the passenger up
According to him, he rarely initiates conversations with passengers, and the entire journey passed quietly without any interaction.
After approximately 30 minutes, the driver arrived at the destination and tried several times to wake the passenger. However, she remained completely unresponsive, sleeping so soundly that even her own dog barking nearby failed to wake her up.
Unsure of what to do and encountering such a situation for the first time, the driver contacted customer service for assistance. He was then instructed to send the passenger to the nearest police station.

The driver later shared a photo showing his car parked inside the police station compound, saying he entered the premises openly and with instructions from customer service.
Didn’t want to get out of the car
Upon noticing that the passenger was a woman, a male officer called a female colleague to help wake her.
While the driver chose not to describe how she was eventually roused, he said the situation took another unexpected turn after she finally woke up.
According to him, the passenger then told the female officer that she did not want to get out of the car, leaving him stunned.
It later emerged that she did not want to be dropped off at the police station at all and instead wanted the driver to send her back home.
Promised to give him a tip but didn’t
After another five minutes, the driver successfully sent her back. He claimed that the passenger promised to give him a tip for the trouble, but as of the time of his post, he had yet to receive anything.
The prolonged incident also meant he missed out on other potential bookings that night, leaving him frustrated.
Reflecting on the experience, the driver said that if a similar situation were to happen again, he would send the passenger directly to the police station without spending extra time calling customer service.
He also added that he would advise the passenger to book another ride from the police station instead.
Not fully conscious from the beginning
Speaking to WeirdKaya, the driver shared that from the moment the passenger entered his car, he already felt that she was not fully conscious.
He estimated that the entire incident, from arrival at the destination to resolving the situation, cost him about an extra hour.
However, he stressed that such incidents are not common, adding that in his six months of driving, this was the first time he had encountered a passenger who could not be woken up at all.
