Being an e-hailing driver isn’t easy. You deal with all sorts of passengers daily, and sometimes, it only takes one bad ride to push your patience to the limit.
That’s exactly what happened to one driver recently when his encounter with a female passenger went viral on Facebook and Threads.
Passenger demanded speed, but didn’t want to pay toll
According to the driver, he picked up a female passenger from Ampang who wanted to head to PJ.

Like any other ride, he greeted her politely and confirmed the destination. Instead of replying normally, she reportedly responded with just one word:
ETA?”
After he told her the estimated arrival time, she said, “Ok fast, I’m late for work.”
But a few kilometres into the journey, she suddenly requested:
PLS NO TOLL.”
Driver had enough, turned back & asked her to get out
The driver admitted he was frustrated by the passenger’s attitude. Rather than argue, he simply turned the car around and drove back to the pick-up point.
He then told her to leave the vehicle immediately despite her asking why.
You want to be fast because you’re late, but you’re giving too many conditions,” he explained in his post.
‘If you want to give orders, hire a personal driver’
The incident quickly went viral, with many netizens criticising the passenger for being rude and unreasonable.
One wrote:
“Acting like a boss giving orders. If you want to give orders, hire a personal driver. If she spoke nicely, the driver might have been understanding.”
Another commented:
“Want to be fast but don’t want to pay toll? I’m willing to pay expensive tolls as long as I get there on time.”
Others pointed out that toll charges aren’t even that expensive and passengers should not expect drivers to bear the cost for them.
Respect goes both ways
While e-hailing drivers provide a service, netizens said passengers should also treat them with respect and understand that drivers have the right to refuse unreasonable requests.
After all, patience has its limits especially when you’re trying to do your job and someone keeps giving you conditions along the way.
