This necessity for road safety was starkly highlighted in a shocking incident that occurred on August 1 at the Taman Velox junction in Rawang, Selangor.

A video that has since gone viral shows a black Honda CRV dragging a motorcycle for an astonishing 500 meters. The footage, shared by Facebook user, Farul Aradiaq, reveals the car pulling the motorcycle despite having lost its right tire.

In the 18-second clip, the CRV moves at high speed, causing sparks to fly as it drags the motorcycle.

Other road users, including a Perodua Bezza and several motorcyclists, attempt to intervene by honking and chasing after the vehicle, but their efforts are in vain.

Eyewitnesses suggest that the CRV driver was intoxicated at the time of the incident. Thankfully, the motorcycle rider, a food delivery person, managed to escape without serious injury.

The video has sparked outrage on social media, with many users condemning the driver’s reckless behaviour and calling for severe penalties.
