A minor car accident on the Penang Second Bridge led to a full-on emergency response — but it turns out, it was all a false alarm.
Earlier today (July 4), a motorist called for help after claiming he couldn’t open his car door following a minor collision on the bridge.
Firefighters were dispatched immediately, rushing all the way to the scene expecting a rescue situation.
But when they arrived, they realised… there was no real emergency.
Door wasn’t actually stuck
According to a video reposted by a Facebook group called Penang Kini, the driver had parked too close to the barrier, making it hard to open the car door.
The door wasn’t jammed or damaged, it just didn’t have enough space to swing open.
And get this: passengers could’ve easily exited through the driver’s side. But they didn’t.
“We came all the way for this?”
A frustrated firefighter filming the scene could be heard saying,
They could’ve just gotten out from the driver’s seat… why didn’t they do that?”
The clip also showed a fire truck parked behind the car, with traffic already slowed down due to the minor crash.
Netizens: “Give him a fine!”
The incident sparked strong reactions online. Many were annoyed that emergency resources were wasted over something so minor.
Some sarcastically commented:
“Why not break the glass and rescue him like in the movies?”

“Spray him with water to wake him up la.”
