Last week, we reported of a single father of three kids who was sentenced to jail for three months after he admitted to stealing bananas from a farm.
In a dramatic turn of events, he is now allowed to walk as a free man after his sentence was reduced to just 10 days by the Muar High Court today.

According to NST, the decision was made by Judge Datuk Meor Hashimi Abdul Hamid, who called the original sentence of three months in jail was disproportionate to the offence committed by Muhammad Fadil Ismail.
The court finds the magistrate’s decision to be excessively severe, given the nature of the offence,” he said during the judicial review proceedings.
Following that, he reduced Muhammad Fadil’s sentence to only 10 days, which is backdated to the day of his arrest on Jan 4 and ultimately leading to his release.

According to the facts of the case, Muhammad Fadil, allegedly committed stole “rastali” bananas from a farm on Jan 4.
The frustrated farm owner then installed a CCTV to catch the culprit, where Muhammad Fadli was eventually caught in the act and arrested on the same day.
He later pleaded guilty to the theft and was ordered to serve three months in jail by Magistrate Nurasidah A. Rahman.
