A Malaysian family’s attempt to give their beloved father a birthday surprise turned into an unexpectedly hilarious moment and it was all caught on camera.
Everyone was ready…except the birthday boy
In a video that has since gone viral on TikTok, user @piqahnaim shared a heartwarming (and slightly chaotic) moment of her family trying to surprise her husband on his birthday.
The short clip shows the entire family already geared up and waiting near the entrance, all donning birthday hats and holding confetti poppers in hand.
As soon as the father opens the door, he’s greeted with an enthusiastic “SURPRISE!” followed by a loud pop from the confetti cannons and that’s when things take a turn.
The unsuspecting dad was so startled by the noise that he immediately lost his footing and fell backwards in shock.
‘I told him about the surprise, not the poppers’
Speaking exclusively to WeirdKaya, the man’s wife shared that she did give her husband a heads-up about the celebration.
I already told my husband the kids would surprise him like we always do. But he didn’t expect this year’s surprise to involve confetti poppers.“
Despite the unexpected fall, she said he took it in good spirits and simply thanked the family for the gesture.
Though caught off guard, he was touched by the gesture and thanked his family for making his birthday special.
While the surprise didn’t quite go as planned, it definitely made the celebration one to remember.
