Dining out is often seen as a time to enjoy good food and good company, with basic dining etiquette ensuring a pleasant experience for everyone.
However, a restaurant in Kedah found itself in an unexpected uproar when a couple’s heated argument escalated to the point of flipping a table, leaving shattered glass and broken tableware in their wake.
The restaurant had turned to the 我是SP 人 Facebook page to publicly address the matter, calling on the couple to return and take responsibility for their actions, though the post has since been removed.
The incident reportedly took place at a local noodle house, where the male individual angrily overturned a table during a quarrel with his partner.
According to the caption on that post, it was revealed that the glass tabletop, bowls, and other items were destroyed in the process.
Despite the chaos caused, the couple walked out of the restaurant without offering an apology or addressing the damages.
Our noodle house is a restaurant, not a boxing ring. A couple, in the name of ‘love’, destroyed our tables, chairs, dishes, and bowls, leaving behind not romance but a mess on the floor.” the wrote.
The eatery further shared that the commotion had startled other diners, including a disabled man and his family who were seated nearby.
“Amid the devastation, we saw more helplessness, a disabled person and his child, who were frightened and at a loss in the face of the sudden chaos,” they explained.
Adding to the gravity of the situation, it was noted that the woman involved appeared to have sustained an injury, as red liquid resembling blood was seen streaming down her arm as she left the restaurant.
Restaurant urges the couple to return
Despite the destruction and distress caused, the couple left the premises without acknowledging the damages or apologising to those affected.
The restaurant has since expressed their hope that the couple will return to make amends.
“Damages can be repaired, but the hurt of the soul requires an apology and some responsibility. We always believe that everyone has a conscience,” the restaurant explained.
We hope that the couple who caused the chaos and damages in the restaurant last night will come back and compensate us on their own initiative.
“Cleaning up the mess is not the end but the beginning of a new sense of responsibility. We sincerely hope that the perpetrators will come back and make amends for their mistakes,” they said.
While the restaurant has shown remarkable patience and understanding, they remain firm in their call for accountability.
