What was supposed to be a fun late-night mukbang challenge turned into a terrifying ordeal.
A young couple in Kuala Lumpur were allegedly threatened, robbed and sexually assaulted by a man who claimed to be a security guard, all while they were eating burgers in their car.
The incident reportedly happened at around 11:30pm on 6 January outside a burger stall near the Danau Kota hot spring area in Setapak.
From night munching to nightmare
According to China Press, the 19-year-old woman and her boyfriend had bought burgers and were filming a mukbang session inside their parked car.
About an hour later, another car pulled up beside them. A man approached and asked what they were doing in the vehicle.
He then allegedly accused the couple of engaging in “inappropriate behaviour”, showed a baton to intimidate them, and claimed he was a security guard.
He reportedly told them their actions could get them arrested and that was when things escalated.
Threatening and intimidating
The suspect allegedly took both victims’ identity cards and forced them to buy all the perfumes he was selling, amounting to RM260.
When the woman said she did not have enough money, the man allegedly instructed her to transfer the amount electronically.
He then took both of their phones and threatened that she must “accompany” him for an hour, or he would call more people to the scene.
The suspect also allegedly threatened the couple into performing intimate acts under fear and intimidation.
The couple were reportedly kept under threat and intimidation for several hours. The suspect is also said to have claimed that he had used similar tactics on others before fleeing the scene.
Police confirm arrest
Wangsa Maju district police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohamad Razin confirmed that a police report has been lodged.
He said police are investigating the case under Section 392 of the Penal Code (robbery) and Section 377C of the Penal Code (non-consensual sexual acts).
A 24-year-old man was arrested in the Damansara area on 8 January. He has been remanded until 14 January to assist in investigations.
