In Malaysia, drivers are required by law to ensure their vehicles have insurance and a valid road tax before they drive it on the road.
However, some still continue to push their luck and flaunt the law until they eventually get caught by the authorities, just like how this young couple found out.
Drove rental sports car with no insurance, road tax
In a Facebook post by the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur Road Transport Department (JPJ WPKL), it wrote that a Nissan GT-R car was recently flagged down by officers during ‘Ops Khas Luxury’.
The operation was carried out last Sunday (Nov 30) along the exit to Kuala Lumpur Middle Ring Road 2 (MRR2) from the Gombak Toll Plaza heading towards Batu Caves
Upon further inspection, officers found that the sports car was rented by a young local couple who were inside the vehicle.
They also discovered that they were driving the car with an expired road tax and without insurance coverage.
The sports car was later seized by officers for further investigations.
Online mockery
In the comment section, netizens had little sympathy for the couple behind the wheel and expressed satisfaction over them getting caught by JPJ.
‘Dude rented a luxury car to show it off with a girl, but he ended up getting spot-checked by JPJ and got embarrassed along with a summons too.’

‘Bunch of monkeys who want to show off but are actually worse off than poor people. Just lock the car up.’

One expressed interest in the rental sports car before jokingly realising that he could only afford the toy version of it.

Not too long ago, a Singaporean woman committed the same offense while driving a Ford Mustang:
