M’sian Cop Tries To Snatch Keys From Students Who Drove Illegally Modified Motorbike But Fails

Police urged the public not to speculate on the incident.
A video has surfaced online where it showed a man attempting to forcibly remove the keys from a student’s motorcycle while at a traffic light.

Later, it was revealed that the man was a police officer who was trying to apprehend the student who was riding an illegally modified vehicle.

According to the video circulating online, it took place at a junction near Sekolah Kebangsaan Bandar Endau in Mersing, Johor.

At the traffic light, the man seen riding up to the students who were waiting for the light to turn green when the man suddenly lurched forward and tried to grab the motorcycle’s keys, resulting in a brief struggle.

Although the students managed to fend off the man, they found themselves being tailed from behind even after driving away.

Was on duty at the time

Mersing Deputy District Police Chief, Deputy Superintendent Mohd Hasrudi Mohd Zain later revealed that the man was a police officer who was on duty during the incident.

He added the officer attempted to inspect the motorcycle as it had no registration plate, appeared to have been illegally modified, and had a loud exhaust, reported Sinar Harian.

Police are now probing the case under Section 58(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 and Section 24(1)(b) of the Police Act 1967.

The public was also urged not to make speculations regarding the incident.
