If you’re an avid runner, you’d probably find yourself sprinting or jogging away at public parks. However, some of us are only able to do so at night due to having to work at daytime.
A local man recently took to social media to rant about how he felt being told to leave a public park at 10pm and questioned the rationale behind the policy.
M’sian complains about being chased out from park at 10pm
In a 1-minute 19-second TikTok clip posted by @azlizanhamizi, it showed him in the middle of a run at a park in Setia Alam Impian in Shah Alam.
In the clip, he began rambling about how he felt over being told to leave the premise when the clock struck 10pm.
Can you imagine the amount of hassle and scrambling when one’s running halfway or playing at the park? Aside from that, they also wanted the parking lot to be emptied out by 10pm.
“To me, how is this logical? I have to stop running before 10pm and I only have time to run after I finish work or my prayers,” he complained.
Azlizan added that he was taken by surprise over the 10pm policy enforced by the park management and said he personally believes it’s unreasonable.
He also asked netizens whether they felt the policy was justified or not.
Towards the end of the clip, Azlizan showed viewers a guard instructing those who had parked their cars at the parking lot to leave and setting up barriers to prevent others from entering.
‘All for safety’
In the comment section, several netizens agreed with the policy, saying that it was done to protect the safety of the public.
‘In my opinion, it’s better that they close at 10pm for safety reasons as it’s too dark. It might be safe for adults, but we should also consider families bringing their children and try avoiding any risks.’
‘If they don’t follow the law, the management will be blamed if something untoward happens. Anything can happen in this day and age. Try to think positive.’
Meanwhile, another joked that the guard probably wanted to catch some fish at the lake nearby so that he could have it for his meal before his shift ended.
